I love Ubuntu and I am an Ubuntu user a long time ago but the next version Ubuntu 9.10 seems to focus on wallpapers and themes !! I don’t like Ubuntu’s way of development. It is just focusing on themes and ignoring important projects like PulseAudio and X.org.
In this article I will talk a little about the new features that will be in Mandriva 2010. The final version is expected to be available on the 3rd of November.
Mandriva Linux 2010 is aimed at improving the user experience for daily tasks. let’s have a look to what’s new :
To better user experience of installation, the Mandriva developers thought that installer design is quite old now and need to be refreshed to stay ahead of competition. The next screenshot shows the new design. ![]()
Finally, Mandriva Online will be able to notify user about the new version of the distribution and propose the system to upgrade it without using installer.
Mandriva 2010 will include the Moblin 2.0 environment designed for mobile desktop platforms, making Mandriva Linux the first distribution to integrate it in a free distribution.This environment has been designed for mobile desktop platforms. Netbooks are a given target but you can also use it when you want an ergonomic and simple environment for daily tasks. ![]()
Installing it is easy: install task-moblin package in rpmdrake and choose Moblin in connection manager.
Guest accounts, based on the xguest package, can now be established to offer safe temporary access to the system via gdm or kdm.
Setelah tahapan instalasi dns server dengan bind di Linux Mandriva 2009.1, disini. Sekarang kita bikin skenario bahwa DNS Server ini akan di gunakan untuk beberapa domain Internet.
Misalnya IP Public DNS Server yang akan digunakan adalah 125.125.125.1 (DNS master saja/simple), dengan IP resolv adalah ns.semusim.info.
Dan IP domain semusim.info ber IP 125.125.125.2
Domain yang dipake adalah semusim.info. Masuk dulu ke Control Panel domain semusim.info dan arahkan NS server ke alamat ns.semusim.info.
Ok, persiapan selesai. Sekarang tinggal mengkonfigurasi mesin DNS server ns.semusim.info di IP 125.125.125.1.

Tambahkan di bagian paling bawah baris isian berikut

Kemudian simpan. Setelah itu bikin file semusim.info di /var/lib/named/var/named/reverse (ingat bind di mandriva udah mode chroot). Jadi tinggal bikin aja file semusim.info nya seperti ini :

Setelah instalasi Mandriva Linux, jangan lupa install webserver nya :
urpmi apache
Setelah ok semua, kita lanjut ke instalasi inti dari captive portal itu sendiri, yaitu coova-chilli dan Freeradius. Oiya, sebelome untuk melanjutkan proses ini, jangan lupa juga menyambungkan mandriva linux ke repository terdekat. Gambarannya isa diliat disini : http://bayu.blitar.org?l=AmEHtkFr.

Setelah selesai, langsung jalankan :

Dengan perintah diatas, disamping kita menjalankan service/layanan captive portal, kita juga menggenerate otomatis konfigurasi untuk captive portal. Dan konfigurasi standar hasil generate ini di letakkan di :

Untuk file /etc/chilli.conf jangan diutak atik, biarkan standar/default dulu. Dengan hasil konfigurasi seperti diatas. Captive Portal ini sudah bisa digunakan.

Setelah kita melihat file konfigurasi shorewall yang kita gunakan sebagai firewall di Mandriva Linux kita, akhirnya kita melanjutkan ke setingan default DHCP dari hasil proses Internet Connection Sharing untuk Warnet / Warung Internet.
