Mempercepat Open Office
-Jalankan Open Office, klik menu Tools>Options. Kemudian klik menu Memory di sebelah kiri, ubah nilai setingan seperti dibawah ini

-Number Of Steps: 30
-Use for Open Office: 128
-Memory per Object: 20
-Number of Objects: 20

Kemudian klik pada bagian Java di menu sebelah kiri, kemudian hilangkan tanda cek pada “Use a Java Runtime Enviroment” trus klik Ok. Kemudian
jalankankan ulang Open Office, cepat kan ?

Membuat Linux lebih cepat
Masuk ke mode teks, bisa menggunakan menu Open Terminal atau Run Command kemudian jalankan perintah konsole (KDE)
Setelah itu gunakan akses root dengan jalan mengetikkan perintah “su”, masukkan password “root”. Kemudian edit file
“/etc/sysctl.conf”, dan ubah beberapa nilai konfigurasi agar seperti dibawah ini (letakkan dibawah nilai “kernel.sysrq=1”)

vm.swappiness=1
vm.vfs_cache_pressure=50

kemudian simpan, dan reboot linuxnya untuk mengetahui efeknya.

Disable IPV6

vim /etc/sysconfig/network
NETWORKING_IPV6=no

Speed Up Boot

Matikan Service² yang tidak diperlukan seperti apmd, autofs, identd, ip6tables, iptables, isdn, lpd, nfs, portmap, talkd and sendmail. (hanya contoh, sesuaikan dengan kebutuhan)
Add your hostname to Hosts

Biasanya file host seperti ini:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Ada juga yang seperti ini:

127.0.0.1 localhost

dan tambahkan baris:

127.0.0.1 hostname

Firefox 2 Slow Web-browsing Fix

This may be due to your system or internet connection not being able to use the newer protocol of IPv6 ? You are only able to use the older protocol of IPv4 ? Firefox 2 has IPv6 enabled by default, if it can not use IPv6, then eventually it falls back to using IPv4 protocol ! This is why you are waiting for about 10 seconds for it to start, and it may seem to you that there is some thing wrong with Firefox 2 or your internet connection ?

There is a solution, you can turn off Firefox trying to use by default the IPv6 protocol.

• In the Firefox browser adress bar type: about:config

• Then in the new text field, type: network.dns.disableIPv6

• Double click the line and it will set the value from false to true.

• Your Web-browsing speed will increase dramatically.

TAKE NOTE: This fix is not required by every one, only do it if your use of Firefox seems slow.
